On Sunday evening, September 27, at 5:00, we will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the installation of the Rildia Bee O’Bryan Cliburn Organ with a Hymn Festival. The Cliburn Organ, given in honor of Van Cliburn’s mother, is the largest pipe organ in Texas, with 10,615 pipes, 191 ranks, and 129 independent stops. The festival will also honor Organist Emeritus Dr. Albert L. Travis.
The Hymn Festival was designed and will be led by current Broadway Organist Bradley Reznicek. The organ, brass, and the 70-voice Broadway Chancel Choir, directed by Minister of Music Dennis Jewett, will lead congregational singing.
Selections will include well-known hymns: Come, Christians Join to Sing; It Is Well With My Soul; O God, Beyond All Praising; Great Is Thy Faithfulness; He Comes to Us as One Unknown; and a new hymn written for this celebration by Rev. Nathan Russell.
