The great west window, "The Invitation," is before the eyes of the worshiper in every service, a silently magnificent plea to accept the invitation of the Risen Christ to come to him for salvation, for rest, for newness of life. The figure of Christ in the center lancet stands with hands extended in welcome, "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavily laden, and I will give you rest." The medallion depicting the chalice, grapes and wheat reminds us of the Lord's Supper. The medallions in the outer lancets symbolize that Christ is the Alpha and Omega - the first and the last. For the over-all design of the field, the vine had been used, symbolic of "I am the vine, ye are the branches." The quatrefoil shapes within the field represent the four evangelists. The five lancet windows are symbolic of the five wounds of our Lord. |
