5. Abraham (Genesis 22:9-13)
The Lord said unto Abram, "I will make of thee a great nation ... I will bless thee and make thy name great, and thou shalt be a blessing."
Abraham is the only man to have the distinction of being revered by three great religions - Christians, Mohammedans and Jews all call him blessed. Out of the drama of his life, one could
find many virtues to extol, but in the window we see illustrated the great faith of Abraham in his God. The fire pot symbolizes the alter on which Abraham was preparing to obey God's command
to sacrifice his son, Isaac. In the center of the window we see Abraham ready to carry out the
heartbreaking order, and the intervening hand of God's angel. On the right is pictured the ram
which God provided as a substitute of Isaac after Abraham has proved his faith.
