Bible Study For Preschoolers

The first lesson preschoolers need to learn about church is that it is a safe and happy place. Broadway provides a graded curriculum for our preschoolers just as we do for our older children. From their basic study flows the biblical story, theology, doctrine and spiritualty.

Worship For Children

It is important that children know what we do in the worship service. Children need to experience worship with their family of origin and with their family of faith. Each week children are provided with special bulletins to guide their worship experience. If you do not have children, but sit near a child in worship, acknowledege the child's presence. You may smile at the child, speak to the child and tell the child how glad you are that he or she is in the service. Every child is important to us and we want worship to be a positive experience. In the fall, we offer a 12-week worship study class for first graders to help them understand and prepare them to participate in worship.

Preschoolers

During the worship service, infants through kindergartners are cared for by our Extended Session volunteers. These teachers use ideas which correlate with the lessons taught in Sunday School.

Parents Day Out

The purpose of Parents' Day Out is to provide a safe, loving and supportive environment in which your preschooler can grow spiritually, mentally, socially, physically and emotionally. Teaching experiences during the day are planned carefully, keeping in mind the developmental level and individual needs of each preschooler. Age-appropriate methods and materials are used to allow your preschooler a variety of opportunities for discovery and well-rounded development. Our program provides a developmentally oriented bridge from in-home play to a more formal school experience.

Beginning with the age of two, children are grouped by their age as of September 1. Younger children are assigned to classrooms according to their development. It is our intention to maintain a safe teacher/child classroom ratio (Babies & Creepers 1-3, Toddlers 1-4, Twos 1-5, Threes-Fives 1-7).

Broadway employs a staff of trained, experienced caregivers to provide child care services for our Parents' Day Out. These teachers are Christians from Broadway and other area churches who undergo training in child development and classroom management and view their teaching as a ministry as well as employment. Screening is done in accordance with the Child/Youth Protection Policy of the church.
