Prayer is an important part of the caring ministry of Broadway. We believe that prayer is a way of interceding on the behalf of those who are in need. We also believe that God's spirit is present with all of us and is especially close to those in crisis. The church maintains a list of those with prayer concerns. Names may be added to the list by calling the church office or by This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Stephen Ministry

Lay caregivers (called Stephen Ministers) are trained to provide one-to-one Christian Care to those facing a life crisis or challenge such as grief, hospitalization, terminal illness, separation, divorce, or unemployment.

Visitation is a way to offer our care by being present with those in need. Most hospitals no longer are able to tell us if a church member is a patient. If you or someone you know is admitted to the hospital please tell the chaplain to call the church, ask a friend or relative to call or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Life Enrichment Ministry (LEM)

This ministry nurtures, engages, supports and equips those in the second half of life. Through LEM, we celebrate God’s gift of longevity and individual gifts given to Broadway’s 55 plus. We hold true that Jesus’ declaration in John 10:10 “I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly” is as true during the second half of life as it is at any age. Though focused on ministry to, for and with those 55 plus, many of the programs offered by LEM is open to people of any age. We believe that intergenerational relationships are vital to the life of a church family. Our values statement reads:

The Life Enrichment Ministry of Broadway Baptist Church is committed to providing a ministry grounded in the Christian faith that engages, equips and supports those in the 2nd half of life through programs that promote opportunities for personal growth, creativity and the experiencing of an abundant life. Striving to exemplify Christian hospitality that welcomes the diversity represented within all who wish to participate in this ministry, we shall serve and care for one another with love and friendship.

Circles of Care

Care groups are formed around a specific need of members of the congregation. Anyone with an interest in a specific ministry can offer care and compassion through a circle of care. Each group has a facilitator who is notified or aware of a need and makes assignments. Individuals interested in serving in one of these groups should contact the office of the Minister of Congregational Care. They include, but are not limited to: Cheer Connection a ministry to those who are confined to their homes and can no longer worship with us at Broadway, Music Connection which provides music experiences for those who cannot come to worship at Broadway. A wide variety of musical offerings can be shared such as singing, guitar, piano, and keyboard, Transportation Connection which provides rides to doctor’s appointment or to church for members who can no longer drive. Home Repairs Connection which offers house calls to the homes of members in need of minor home repairs. These repairs may be as simple as changing light bulbs or as involved as small plumbing problems.

Shepherd Ministry

The office is staffed each day by lay volunteers who call members on their birthdays or anniversaries of joining the church, write notes to those who are ill or confined to their homes, contact those who have suffered a loss. Shepherd ministers also commit to pray for those who are ill or grieving.

New Member Orientation

Offered once a quarter after worship on Sunday for those who have recently joined the church. Staff members offer information about Broadway, their ministry areas, and ways to become involved in ministry. If you are a new member you will receive an invitation to an orientation. On the evening of the orientation you will be invited to a new member dinner at the home of a staff member.

Blessings of Christmas

A Broadway tradition of making Christmas baskets which bring cheer to those confined to their homes and no longer able to worship at Broadway. Members bring fruit, lotion, hard candy, and tissues to fill the baskets with holiday treats. Families and classes gather after worship on a Sunday in early December to assemble and deliver the baskets.

Support Groups

A variety of groups are offered at various times. Some of the kinds of groups we offer are: Caregivers Support Group, Grief Support Group, Support Group for Persons with Mental Illness, Support Groups for those with Chronic Illness.

Grief Service

This service of comfort and healing is offered during December. This service is for those who have suffered a loss during the past year. It is an opportunity to honor loved ones and to celebrate their lives.
